Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire the nursing team to deliver outstanding resident-centered care
- Oversee clinical operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards
- Manage staffing, scheduling and workflow to maintain safe nurse-to-resident ratios
- Coach, mentor and develop nursing staff through performance feedback and education
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and facility leadership on care plans and initiatives
- Drive quality improvement projects that improve outcomes and resident satisfaction
- Serve as a clear communicator with families, staff and external stakeholders
Qualifications
- Active RN license in Maine or eligibility for Maine licensure (compact privileges if applicable)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; MSN or advanced degree preferred
- Proven nursing leadership experience, with prior DON or assistant DON experience preferred
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support); ACLS and other certifications preferred as applicable
- Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or similar settings is strongly preferred
- Strong background in regulatory compliance, staffing management and quality improvement
Education
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) required; MSN preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of clinical standards, infection control and regulatory requirements
- Skilled in staff development, performance management and conflict resolution
- Proficiency with electronic medical records and common healthcare documentation systems
- Ability to manage budgets, staffing and operational priorities effectively
- Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills
