Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour night shifts, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM (Nights); travelers will be scheduled with limited block scheduling available; every other weekend required; 2-3 holiday shifts between Thanksgiving and New Years; may float to other MedSurg units

Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor MedSurg Neuro patients—spot changes early and act decisively
• Administer and titrate IV drips such as heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine safely
• Manage PCA pumps and collaborate with team members on complex pain needs
• Perform hourly rounding and ensure timely responses to patient needs
• Document care comprehensively and accurately in EPIC
• Work closely with tele/monitor techs—maintain tele awareness and interpret trends
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and multiple patient flow demands throughout the shift
• Provide culturally competent, compassionate care to a diverse patient population

Qualifications

• Active RN license eligible for submission (no license or background hits allowed)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Driver's license required at time of submittal (used for radius verification)
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience (MedSurg/Telemetry preferred)
• Travel nursing experience preferred but strong non-travel candidates will be considered
• Ability and willingness to pass a pass/fail orientation skills exam (90% required to continue the contract)

Education

• BSN not required (BSN Required: No as stated in job data)

Knowledge & Skills

• MedSurg and telemetry patient care experience
• Proficiency with EPIC charting system
• IV medication titration and drip management (heparin, lidocaine, ketamine)
• Familiarity with PCA pumps and mechanical lifts
• Strong patient assessment and clinical judgment
• Hourly rounding best practices and patient responsiveness
• Telemonitoring awareness and working with tele techs
• Cultural competency and ability to serve diverse populations
