Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-acuity critical care across the High Acuity Float Pool with skill and compassion
- Manage ventilators and respiratory support including CPAP, BiPAP and high-flow devices
- Safely titrate vasoactive and sedative drips (e.g., epi, norepi, dobutamine, propofol) per protocol
- Continuously monitor telemetry and interpret ECG strips to detect and respond to changes
- Accurately document patient care and clinical changes using Cerner
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (RTs, monitor techs, physicians) to deliver coordinated care
- Prioritize and respond to emergent situations using ACLS/BLS standards
- Float to a variety of units (ICU, Telemetry, Med-Surg, Surgery specialties) and adapt quickly to different team workflows
Qualifications
- Active RN license (able to submit — employer is willing to wait if needed)
- Minimum 2 years ICU experience (high acuity preferred)
- Current ACLS (AHA) and BLS (AHA) certifications
- Demonstrated experience with ventilator management and respiratory support
- Comfort and experience with drip titration and vasoactive medications
- Familiarity with telemetry monitoring and ECG strip interpretation
- Experience charting in Cerner or similar electronic health record
- Ability to work nights, weekends and float across units
Education
- Active RN license in good standing (BSN is not required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Critical care nursing principles and AACN CCU staffing expectations
- Drip titration and vasoactive medication management
- Ventilator management and respiratory support modalities
- Telemetry monitoring and ECG interpretation
- Cerner electronic charting and documentation workflows
- Phillips monitor familiarity and working with Monitor Techs
- High-acuity patient assessment across medical, surgical, neuro and cardiac populations
- Effective communication and teamwork in fast-paced acute care settings
