Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts (days and nights), includes weekends. Schedule includes 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; night-shift weekends are Friday-Saturday and day-shift weekends are Saturday-Sunday. Shift length 12 hours; exact start/end times vary by unit/schedule.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care to adult ICU patients in trauma, neuro and cardiovascular settings
• Assess and interpret cardiac rhythms and act quickly on dysrhythmias
• Titrate infusions and vasoactive drips safely and per unit protocols
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support alongside RT staff
• Collaborate with intensivists, hospitalists, RTs and the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform bedside procedures, respond to codes and support Level 1 trauma cases
• Float between Medical Cardiac, Surgical ICU and Overflow units as needed to support patient care
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and participate in a pass/fail Sim Lab on Day 1 of orientation

Qualifications

• Active RN license (must be eligible to submit license for this assignment)
• Minimum 3 years of recent ICU experience; experience must include either neuro or cardiovascular critical care
• At least 2 of the 3 years should be in ICU settings
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• UNA Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance of position (max 2 attempts)
• Ability to titrate drips and manage complex vasoactive/analgesic/sedation infusions
• Comfort with floating between units and working in a Level 1 trauma center environment

Knowledge & Skills

• ICU nursing fundamentals including trauma and neuro critical care
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia management
• Drip titration and vasopressor/inotrope management
• Ventilator management and experience with Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett ventilators
• Familiarity with Cerner electronic charting and GE monitors
• Experience or exposure to ECMO, CRRT, IABP, Impella and TAVR patient care is a plus
• Strong assessment, prioritization and bedside critical thinking skills
