Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor orthopedic medical-surgical patients, prioritizing safety and comfort
- Administer medications and treatments accurately while following clinical protocols
- Perform post-operative care for orthopedic patients, including wound care and mobility support
- Document patient status and care interventions clearly in the electronic health record
- Collaborate with surgeons, therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate patient-centered care
- Provide compassionate patient and family education about recovery, mobility, and discharge planning
- Maintain license and required certifications, and complete skills checklist and competency documentation
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license with Nursys license verification required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in medical-surgical and orthopedic surgical specialty
- Certification card(s) as required by the facility (e.g., BLS) and completed skills checklist
- Work history / resume with no gaps greater than 60 days; professional references required
- Badge-appropriate picture and completed demographic profile for credentialing
- Willingness to work holidays
Education
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong clinical knowledge of medical-surgical and orthopedic post-operative care
- Proficient in patient assessment, IV management, medication administration, and wound care
- Comfortable with electronic documentation and following facility policies
- Effective communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff
- Attention to detail for licensure verification and credentialing requirements
