Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide evidence-based psychological assessments and interventions for adult patients in a correctional setting
- Deliver individual and group therapy focused on mental health stabilization, rehabilitation, and risk reduction
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and maintain individualized treatment plans
- Document patient progress, treatment plans, and clinical notes accurately and on time
- Conduct crisis assessment and provide appropriate referrals or interventions when necessary
- Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care
Qualifications
- Licensed Psychologist (PSYL) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) credential — active and in good standing
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) also considered for coverage
- Current and valid state licensure to practice in California (required)
- Experience providing mental health services in institutional or forensic settings preferred
- Ability to pass facility security clearance/background checks required for work at state correctional facilities
- Strong clinical documentation and case management skills
Education
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) typically required for Psychologist roles
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field acceptable for LMFT/LCSW/LPCC roles
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of evidence-based psychotherapies and assessment tools
- Skilled in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and safety planning
- Comfortable working within correctional facility policies and procedures
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to manage caseloads and prioritize care in a structured environment
- Cultural competence and sensitivity when working with diverse populations
