Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that improve patient outcomes
- Provide individual, group, and crisis intervention services to incarcerated patients
- Collaborate with custody staff, medical providers, and behavioral health colleagues to coordinate care
- Maintain timely, thorough documentation and clinical records in accordance with facility policies
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment meetings and continuity-of-care planning
- Support rehabilitation and therapeutic programming focused on safety, stabilization, and recovery
Qualifications
- Active, valid license as a Psychologist, LMFT, or LCSW (California licensure preferred)
- Clinical experience in mental health settings; experience in correctional or forensic settings is a strong plus
- Current professional liability insurance as required and willingness to complete facility onboarding
- Ability to pass background checks and facility security clearance
- Strong assessment, diagnostic, and treatment planning skills
Education
- Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) for Psychologist role; or Master's degree for LMFT/LCSW candidates
- Relevant clinical internships or supervised clinical hours as required for licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in diagnostic assessment and evidence-based psychotherapy
- Comfortable with crisis intervention and stabilization techniques
- Proficient documentation and clinical record-keeping
- Collaborative communication with medical and custody teams
- Familiarity with correctional behavioral health challenges and ethical considerations
- Culturally competent approach and trauma-informed care principles
