Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment planning for patients in a psychiatric correctional program
- Deliver individual and group therapy focused on rehabilitation, risk reduction, and symptom management
- Conduct risk and crisis assessments and coordinate timely interventions when needed
- Document clinical findings, treatment progress, and medicolegal reports with clarity and professional rigor
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, nursing staff, custody partners, and multidisciplinary teams to support holistic patient care
- Participate in treatment team meetings, case consultations, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance program outcomes
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) or equivalent clinical doctorate preferred
- California license to practice psychology (Licensed Psychologist) or license-eligible with a clear plan to obtain state licensure
- Experience or strong interest in psychiatric, forensic, or correctional mental health settings preferred
- Demonstrated competence in psychological assessment, diagnostics, and evidence-based interventions
- Excellent documentation skills and ability to produce professional clinical and medicolegal reports
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
Education
- PhD or PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (or equivalent doctoral-level clinical degree)
- State licensure required or license-eligible
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical assessment and diagnostic formulation
- Individual and group psychotherapy techniques
- Risk assessment and crisis management
- Trauma-informed care and behavioral intervention strategies
- Strong clinical documentation and report-writing
- Collaborative teamwork and interdisciplinary communication
- Familiarity with correctional or forensic mental health practices is a plus
