Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients to identify functional needs and develop individualized occupational therapy plans
- Deliver evidence-based interventions to improve activities of daily living and independence
- Document patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress in the medical record accurately and timely
- Collaborate with nursing, physical therapy, speech therapy and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Educate patients and families on adaptive strategies, home safety and use of assistive devices
- Participate in discharge planning and recommend community resources to support transitions
- Adjust treatment approaches based on objective outcomes and patient-centered goals
Qualifications
- Current Occupational Therapist license in Maine or ability to obtain state licensure
- Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program (Master's or OTD preferred)
- NBCOT certification preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility immunization requirements
- Strong documentation skills and comfort working with electronic medical records
Education
- Master's degree or Doctorate (OTD) in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in OT evaluation, treatment planning and progress measurement
- Skilled in ADL/IADL training, adaptive equipment recommendations and functional mobility
- Experience with therapeutic modalities relevant to skilled nursing/rehab settings
- Clear, patient-centered communication and ability to educate families and staff
- Team-oriented mindset with strong clinical reasoning and time management
