Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations and provide medication management for patients in a correctional setting
• Deliver evidence-based treatment and crisis intervention during weekend coverage
• Collaborate closely with nursing and behavioral health staff to coordinate care plans
• Document assessments, treatment plans, and follow-ups clearly and timely
• Ensure patient and staff safety by following institutional protocols and best practices
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and handoffs to maintain continuity of care

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with completed residency in Psychiatry (preferred)
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Psychiatry
• Active and unrestricted medical license in California or ability to obtain one
• Prior experience in forensic, correctional, or community psychiatry is a strong plus
• Current DEA registration or ability to obtain
• Strong clinical judgment, documentation skills, and professional communication

Education

• Medical degree (MD or DO) and completion of Psychiatry residency

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and medication management
• Comfort working in correctional healthcare environments and following security protocols
• Strong crisis intervention and de-escalation skills
• Excellent written and verbal documentation for legal and clinical needs
• Collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary teams
• Time management skills to handle weekend caseloads efficiently
