Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and formulate individualized treatment plans
• Provide medication management and evidence-based psychiatric interventions
• Deliver crisis intervention and stabilization when patients present with acute needs
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary mental health and custody staff to coordinate care
• Document clinical encounters accurately and timely to ensure continuity of care
• Participate in treatment planning meetings and consult on complex cases
• Model professional, ethical behavior and contribute to a safe therapeutic environment

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with completion of a Psychiatry residency
• Active California medical license or ability to obtain licensure in California
• Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry is preferred
• Experience or strong interest in correctional or forensic psychiatry preferred
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or willingness to obtain
• Excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and ability to work in a structured institutional setting

Education

• MD or DO in Psychiatry
• Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses and psychopharmacology
• Skilled in psychiatric assessment, risk evaluation, and treatment planning
• Ability to manage acute psychiatric presentations and safely prescribe and monitor medications
• Strong interdisciplinary collaboration and clear documentation skills
• Comfort working in secure settings with an emphasis on safety and professionalism
