Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for patients
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with mental health staff
• Perform timely risk assessments and crisis interventions when needed
• Document clinical encounters thoroughly and maintain compliance with facility and regulatory standards
• Collaborate with psychologists, social workers, nursing staff, and security to ensure safe, effective care
• Participate in case reviews, treatment team meetings, and quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• MD or DO with completed residency in Psychiatry
• Board eligible or board certified in Psychiatry preferred
• Active California medical license or eligibility to obtain one prior to start
• DEA registration or ability to obtain DEA privileges
• Experience in correctional health or behavioral health settings is a strong plus
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and ability to work in a team-based environment

Education

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) with completed psychiatry residency
• Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychiatric treatments
• Skilled in risk assessment, crisis stabilization, and suicide prevention
• Familiar with electronic medical record documentation and regulatory requirements
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and in a secured facility environment
• Culturally sensitive approach and strong interpersonal skills
