Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management for patients in a substance abuse treatment setting
• Develop individualized treatment plans that integrate mental health and substance use disorder care
• Collaborate closely with counselors, nurses, and behavioral health staff to ensure coordinated, compassionate care
• Provide registry coverage to maintain continuity of care during vacancies
• Document patient encounters thoroughly and maintain accurate medical records in the facility EMR
• Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute clinical expertise to care planning

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD or DO) with completed psychiatry residency
• Active and unrestricted California medical license by start date
• Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry preferred
• Experience treating mental health conditions and substance use disorders
• DEA registration or willingness to obtain prior to start
• Comfort with part-time and registry coverage arrangements and flexible scheduling

Education

• MD or DO degree
• Completion of an accredited psychiatry residency

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical expertise in psychiatry, mental health assessment, and medication management
• Experience with substance abuse treatment modalities and integrated care approaches
• Strong clinical decision-making and crisis intervention skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and timely documentation practices
• Ability to work compassionately with a diverse patient population
