Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, attentive psychiatric care and observation to patients in a correctional setting
• Implement care plans and therapeutic activities as directed by the interdisciplinary team
• Monitor, document, and report behavioral changes, incidents, and interventions accurately
• Use de-escalation and crisis-intervention techniques to maintain safety for patients and staff
• Assist with daily living activities and medication administration support per facility protocols
• Collaborate with nurses, mental health clinicians, and security staff to coordinate patient care
• Participate in required trainings and maintain compliance with facility and regulatory standards

Qualifications

• Active California Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) required
• Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Previous experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, or correctional healthcare settings is a plus
• Ability to pass background checks and meet correctional facility clearance requirements
• Strong communication skills and a calm, professional approach in high-stress situations

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Active Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) credential in California

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of psychiatric behavioral health principles and crisis intervention
• Skilled in patient observation, documentation, and charting
• Familiarity with safety protocols and ability to follow security procedures
• Good interpersonal skills for working with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to apply de-escalation techniques and therapeutic communication
