Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered support during intake and routine visits
- Perform clinical tasks such as taking vitals, assisting with examinations, and basic wound care
- Assist providers by preparing exam rooms and ensuring supplies are stocked and organized
- Document patient encounters accurately in the chart and maintain confidentiality
- Coordinate patient flow and communicate clearly with the interdisciplinary team
- Participate in the two-week training to learn facility-specific protocols and safety procedures
Qualifications
- Active Medical Assistant certification or completion of an accredited MA program preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working in a correctional facility environment and following site-specific training
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to a Monday–Friday schedule
- Previous MA experience is a plus, but new grads who complete training are encouraged to apply
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; Medical Assistant certificate or diploma preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in taking vital signs and basic clinical assessments
- Familiarity with electronic health records and accurate documentation
- Ability to perform infection control and maintain a clean, safe workspace
- Strong patient interaction and de-escalation skills in diverse settings
- Time management and multitasking in a fast-paced clinic environment
- Attention to detail when following provider orders and medication administration protocols
