Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care services to the patient population at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility
• Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic conditions while emphasizing continuity of care
• Perform thorough history and physical examinations and develop patient-centered care plans
• Coordinate care and referrals with behavioral health and specialty services as needed
• Document encounters and maintain accurate medical records in accordance with facility policies
• Participate in interdisciplinary team discussions, case reviews, and facility orientation
• Adhere to evidence-based guidelines and facility protocols to ensure safe, high-quality care

Qualifications

• MD or DO (or equivalent medical degree) preferred
• Active and unrestricted medical license in California or eligibility to obtain one
• Experience practicing primary care; experience in correctional or substance abuse treatment settings is a plus
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications welcomed
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively

Education

• MD or DO (or equivalent)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of adult primary care diagnosis and treatment
• Familiarity with medication management and chronic disease protocols
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with staff
• Competence in medical documentation and electronic health record systems
• Cultural sensitivity and experience with populations affected by substance use
