Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled speech-language evaluation and therapy to adult patients in a medical/correctional setting
- Design individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings and patient goals
- Document progress clearly and timely in the medical record to support continuity of care
- Collaborate with nursing, occupational therapy, and other disciplines to coordinate comprehensive care
- Deliver evidence-based interventions for dysphagia, cognitive-communication, voice, and language disorders
- Educate patients and caregivers on communication strategies and safe swallowing techniques
- Participate in case conferences and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- California Speech-Language Pathology license required (or ability to obtain prior to start)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
- Active professional liability insurance (or ability to obtain)
- Comfortable working in a medical/correctional facility environment
- Strong clinical documentation skills and basic familiarity with electronic health records
- Reliable, professional, and a team player who values patient-centered care
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in assessment and treatment of adult swallowing and communication disorders
- Knowledge of evidence-based SLP interventions and standardized assessment tools
- Ability to develop clear, measurable treatment goals and progress notes
- Strong communication, collaboration, and time-management skills
- Familiarity with infection control and safety procedures in clinical settings
