Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations
- Provide individual and group therapy using evidence-based approaches
- Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to each patient
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and treatment records
- Collaborate with custody staff and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care
- Respond to mental health crises and implement appropriate interventions
- Contribute to a safe, therapeutic environment within the correctional facility
Qualifications
- Licensed Psychologist in California OR a valid California license as LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC (candidates with these licenses will be considered)
- Active, unrestricted clinical license in good standing
- Comfortable and professional working in a correctional setting (facility: Salinas Valley State Prison)
- Strong assessment, clinical formulation, and treatment planning skills
- Ability to pass facility-required background checks and clearances
Education
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD/PsyD) for Psychologist roles OR
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field for LCSW/LMFT/LPCC candidates, plus appropriate state licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
- Skilled in individual and group psychotherapy modalities
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Thorough clinical documentation and progress note best practices
- Collaborative communication with multidisciplinary teams
- Cultural competence and trauma-informed care approach
