Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' nutritional needs and create individualized care plans
- Provide medical nutrition therapy and counseling to support recovery and health goals
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
- Document nutrition assessments, interventions, and progress accurately in the medical record
- Educate patients, families, and staff about nutrition-related treatment plans
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance nutrition services
Qualifications
- Current Registered Dietitian (RD) credential required
- Demonstrated experience in clinical nutrition or acute care settings preferred
- Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Ability to work scheduled weekday shifts (two days per week) reliably
- Active professional liability coverage or ability to obtain if required by facility
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field (ACEND-accredited program preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and clinical nutrition assessment
- Knowledge of diet orders, therapeutic diets, and enteral/parenteral nutrition basics
- Charting and documentation best practices in clinical settings
- Patient education techniques and motivational interviewing
- Ability to prioritize caseloads and manage time efficiently
