Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough psychological assessments and evaluations for patients in the psychiatric program
- Provide individual and group therapy using evidence-based approaches to support recovery
- Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Perform crisis intervention and risk assessments to ensure patient and staff safety
- Document clinical encounters and progress notes accurately in the electronic health record
- Consult with custody and medical staff to align psychological care with facility protocols
- Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) preferred; equivalent experience considered
- Licensed Psychologist in California or eligible to obtain California licensure
- Experience working in mental health, psychiatric, or forensic settings preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and psychotherapy skills with adults
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility security requirements
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working as part of a multidisciplinary team
Education
- Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Psychology
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in mental health assessment, diagnostic interviewing, and psychological testing
- Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as CBT and trauma-informed care
- Experience with crisis intervention, risk assessment, and de-escalation techniques
- Competence in clinical documentation and familiarity with electronic health records
- Ability to collaborate with medical, custodial, and administrative staff in a correctional setting
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload
