Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive mental health and substance abuse assessments to inform individualized care
• Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy to adults in a correctional treatment setting
• Collaborate with treatment teams to develop and implement effective treatment plans
• Deliver crisis intervention and stabilization when needed, prioritizing safety and clinical judgment
• Maintain clear, timely documentation and charting to support continuity of care
• Participate in case conferences and professional development to enhance patient outcomes
• Advocate for patient needs while working within facility policies and community resources

Qualifications

• Active and valid California license: Psychologist (PSY) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC)
• Experience providing mental health and substance abuse treatment, ideally in institutional or forensic settings
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills with demonstrated therapy experience
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility credentialing requirements
• Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
• Current CPR/first aid and any facility-required trainings (per employer policy)

Education

• Doctoral degree (PhD/PsyD) in Psychology preferred for Psychologist roles; or
• Master’s degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or related field required for LMFT/LPCC

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
• Familiarity with evidence-based modalities such as CBT, motivational interviewing, and group therapy
• Comfortable working within a structured correctional treatment environment
• Strong documentation and clinical record-keeping skills
• Cultural competence and trauma-informed care approach
• Ability to manage crisis situations and de-escalate when necessary
