Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive psychological assessments and diagnostic evaluations for the incarcerated population
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address mental health needs and safety
- Deliver individual and group therapy using evidence-based approaches tailored to correctional settings
- Perform crisis intervention and risk assessments, coordinating care with custody and medical staff
- Document clinical interactions and maintain timely, accurate records in accordance with facility policy
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support continuity of care and rehabilitation goals
- Contribute to program development and quality improvement initiatives within the mental health unit
Qualifications
- Current, active licensure as a Psychologist in California preferred (PSY). MCSP will also accept LMFT, LPCC, or LCSW for this order
- Experience delivering clinical services in behavioral health; correctional or forensic experience is a plus
- Ability to pass required background checks and meet facility credentialing requirements
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and documentation skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients and multidisciplinary teams
Education
- Doctoral degree (PhD/PsyD) for Psychologist OR Master’s degree for LMFT/LPCC/LCSW — appropriate degree required for licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities and assessment tools
- Proficiency in crisis intervention and risk assessment specific to correctional populations
- Skills in treatment planning, clinical documentation, and outcome tracking
- Cultural competence and ability to work with diverse, underserved populations
- Comfort working within secure correctional environments and following facility protocols
