Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide evidence-based psychological assessment and treatment to adults in a correctional setting
- Develop individualized treatment plans and document progress to support continuity of care
- Deliver individual and group therapy focused on behavior change, coping skills, and mental health stabilization
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care and address safety or crisis situations
- Perform intake evaluations, risk assessments, and make clinically sound recommendations
- Contribute to program development, quality improvement, and training initiatives to enhance services
Qualifications
- Valid CA Psychologist license (PSY) OR Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) credential acceptable per posting
- Experience working with adult populations in outpatient, institutional, or forensic mental health preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and documentation skills
- Ability to work professionally in a correctional facility and collaborate with custody and clinical staff
- Clear communication skills and commitment to ethical, culturally responsive care
Education
- Doctoral degree in Psychology (preferred) or Master's degree in Counseling/Marriage and Family Therapy as applicable to licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of evidence-based therapies (CBT, DBT-informed approaches, trauma-informed care)
- Skilled in psychological assessment, treatment planning, and progress documentation
- Familiarity with behavioral health issues common in incarcerated populations
- Ability to manage clinical risk, safety planning, and crisis intervention
- Strong organizational skills and proficiency with clinical recordkeeping
