Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide evidence-based individual and group psychotherapy to adults in a correctional setting
- Conduct psychological assessments and deliver clear, actionable treatment recommendations
- Collaborate with custody and multidisciplinary clinical teams to coordinate care and support safety
- Document clinical encounters accurately and timely to meet facility and regulatory standards
- Participate in case reviews, treatment planning, and continuity-of-care activities
- Deliver crisis intervention and de-escalation when urgent mental health needs arise
- Contribute to a positive clinical culture by sharing best practices and mentoring colleagues
Qualifications
- Licensed Psychologist (PSY) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California; Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) also accepted
- Active, unrestricted state license required prior to start
- Experience or strong interest in correctional or forensic mental health is preferred
- Comfort with structured clinical documentation and working in secure facility settings
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility clearance requirements
- Strong clinical assessment and therapeutic skills with adult populations
Education
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field (degree aligned with licensure)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
- Competent in individual and group therapy modalities
- Experience with crisis intervention and risk assessment
- Clear clinical documentation and strong communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with custody staff and multidisciplinary teams
- Culturally responsive care and trauma-informed clinical approach
