Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychological assessment and diagnostic services to patients in a psychiatric program
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that promote recovery and safety
• Deliver evidence-based psychotherapy and therapeutic interventions tailored to forensic/psychiatric populations
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and manage risk
• Document evaluations, treatment progress, and discharge planning clearly and timely
• Participate in rounds, case conferences, and program development to improve patient outcomes
• Supervise and mentor trainees or junior clinicians when applicable

Qualifications

• Licensed Psychologist in California (or eligible for CA licensure) — active license preferred
• Experience working in psychiatric or correctional psychiatric programs preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills with adult populations
• Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team in an institutional psychiatric setting
• Valid DEA/state controlled substance registration if applicable to role responsibilities
• Ability to pass facility background checks and meet onboarding requirements

Education

• Doctoral degree in Psychology (PhD or PsyD) preferred; or as required by facility

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in psychological assessment techniques and standardized testing
• Knowledge of evidence-based therapies (CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care)
• Familiarity with risk assessment, crisis intervention, and behavior management
• Excellent written and verbal communication for documentation and team collaboration
• Ability to adapt treatment approaches for forensic or high-acuity psychiatric populations
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a clinical caseload
