Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care and ventilator management to adult and/or pediatric patients as assigned
• Perform respiratory assessments, administer therapies, and monitor patient response to interventions
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and update patient care plans
• Respond to respiratory and airway emergencies with skill and composure
• Document treatments, ventilator changes, and patient progress accurately and in a timely manner
• Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, home care, and equipment use

Qualifications

• Active Virginia Respiratory Therapist license or eligible to obtain state licensure
• Credentialed as RRT or CRT preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable with ventilators, airway management, and emergency response
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams
• Previous acute care or inpatient respiratory therapy experience preferred

Education

• Associate's degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Care or related field preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and settings optimization
• Arterial blood gas interpretation and respiratory assessment
• Airway management, suctioning, and oxygen therapy
• Familiarity with infection control practices and documentation standards
• Ability to prioritize in fast-paced clinical situations and respond to codes
