Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and contribute to individualized treatment plans that restore function and independence
- Deliver hands-on therapeutic interventions and assist with restorative programs
- Monitor and document patient progress in the medical record accurately and timely
- Collaborate with therapists, nurses, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Educate patients and families on home programs, safety, and injury prevention
- Perform safe transfers, gait training, and use of adaptive equipment
- Maintain equipment and ensure a clean, safe treatment environment
- Advocate for patient-centered care and continuous quality improvement
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Current Maryland PTA license or ability to obtain state licensure prior to start
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required
- Previous experience in outpatient, inpatient rehab, or similar settings preferred
- Strong documentation skills and comfort using electronic medical records
- Ability to work the scheduled days and adapt to a travel assignment
Education
- Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic modalities, gait training, transfers, and therapeutic exercise
- Proficient in patient assessment, progress measurement, and care planning
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Team-oriented mindset with strong time management and prioritization
- Knowledge of safety, infection control, and documentation best practices
