Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on physical therapy treatments under the direction of the supervising PT to help patients regain mobility and function
- Implement therapeutic exercise programs and assist with gait training to promote safe independence
- Monitor and document patient progress, updating treatment notes and communicating changes to the care team
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and physicians to create cohesive, patient-centered care plans
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safety strategies to support long-term recovery
- Maintain equipment and treatment areas to ensure a safe, efficient clinical environment
Qualifications
- Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in California, or eligible to obtain license prior to start
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- Experience working in post-acute, rehab, or skilled nursing settings preferred
- Strong documentation skills and familiarity with electronic medical records
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a patient-centered attitude
- Ability to work the assigned schedule including Sundays
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (Associate degree or co-terminal degree)
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise, patient transfers, and gait training
- Knowledge of restorative and post-acute rehab protocols
- Proficient in clinical documentation and progress note writing
- Ability to assess patient response and modify treatments safely
- Strong interpersonal skills for family education and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Time management and multitasking in a fast-paced rehab environment
