Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care for individuals with mental health needs
- Assist with vital signs, basic clinical assessments, and routine procedures
- Support nursing staff with direct care tasks and documentation in the medical record
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients and the multidisciplinary team
- Help maintain a safe, orderly clinical environment consistent with facility policies
- Participate in orientation and ongoing training to maintain high standards of care
Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant (MA) certification or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Experience or strong interest in mental health clinical settings preferred
- Ability to work Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM and complete a 2-week orientation
- Reliable professional conduct and ability to work within a correctional healthcare setting
- Good communication skills and competency in basic clinical tasks
Education
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant or CNA training program
- High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with vital signs, patient observations, and basic clinical procedures
- Comfortable documenting care and following clinical protocols
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with patients who have mental health needs
- Ability to follow infection control and safety guidelines
- Team-oriented attitude and willingness to support nurses and other clinicians
- Time management skills to handle clinic workflows and patient schedules
