Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and support in a correctional mental health setting with compassion and professionalism
- Obtain vital signs, assist with patient assessments, and document findings accurately
- Assist clinical staff with medication administration and treatment activities as allowed by scope
- Maintain clear, timely electronic and paper documentation to support continuity of care
- Support safety protocols and infection control practices to protect patients and staff
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support mental health treatment plans
- Participate in the two-week orientation and apply facility-specific procedures consistently
Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant certification or Certified Nursing Assistant certification
- Experience or interest in mental health care preferred
- Ability to complete a two-week orientation and integrate facility protocols
- Current BLS/CPR card preferred or willing to obtain
- Willingness to work in a correctional facility and complete any required facility clearances
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited MA or CNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong patient care fundamentals including vital signs and basic clinical procedures
- Good documentation skills and familiarity with electronic charting or willingness to learn
- Effective communication and teamwork in high-structure environments
- De-escalation and situational awareness skills suited to mental health and correctional care
- Reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail
