Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct psychiatric care to patients within the facility
- Observe, assess, and accurately document patient behavior and progress
- Collaborate with nurses, clinicians, and custody staff to coordinate individualized care
- Implement treatment plans and participate in therapeutic activities under supervision
- Respond calmly and effectively to psychiatric emergencies using de-escalation techniques
- Maintain safety, security, and professional standards while working in a correctional setting
Qualifications
- Valid Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) credential — required
- Ability to work the scheduled per diem shifts: Tuesday–Saturday, 1:00 PM–9:30 PM
- Willingness to confirm or cancel assignments daily as required by per diem process
- Prior psychiatric or correctional healthcare experience preferred
- CPR/BLS certification preferred
Education
- Completion of a Licensed Psychiatric Technician training program or equivalent
- High school diploma or GED
Knowledge & Skills
- Behavioral health assessment and observation skills
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
- Accurate clinical documentation and charting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for teamwork
- Familiarity with correctional facility protocols and safety practices
