Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense medications accurately under pharmacist supervision
• Maintain inventory levels, complete counts, and process medication orders
• Label and package medications following safety and compliance standards
• Assist pharmacists with prescription verification and documentation tasks
• Support medication distribution and unit-dose cart fills as required
• Communicate clearly with clinical staff to ensure timely medication delivery
• Contribute to a safe medication environment by following policies and reporting discrepancies

Qualifications

• Active Pharmacy Technician certification or classification (PHTEC) as required
• State pharmacy technician registration/license if applicable in California
• Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred, especially in institutional or long-term care settings
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication safety
• Ability to pass facility orientation and required background checks

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required; pharmacy technician training or certificate preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Familiarity with medication preparation, labeling, and dispensing processes
• Knowledge of pharmacy inventory management and medication storage
• Comfortable with basic computer systems and electronic medication records
• Clear communication skills for working with pharmacists and clinical teams
• Ability to follow protocols, maintain accurate records, and prioritize workload
