Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care to adult patients, delivering evidence-based diagnosis and treatment
• Manage chronic conditions and coordinate longitudinal care plans that improve patient outcomes
• Perform thorough clinical documentation and maintain compliance with facility and regulatory standards
• Collaborate with nursing and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, timely, and effective care
• Participate in assigned orientation activities and local clinical operations to ensure smooth transition into the role
• Triage and manage acute presentations, referring specialty care as needed and advocating for patient safety

Qualifications

• Active California medical license (physician license in good standing required)
• MD or DO degree and completion of residency in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or equivalent primary care training
• Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine preferred
• Current DEA registration or ability to obtain prior to start
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; ACLS preferred or willing to obtain
• Experience in primary care; experience with correctional healthcare is a strong plus
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

• MD or DO
• Residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and primary care management skills
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
• Excellent communication and patient education abilities
• Skill in chronic disease management and preventive care
• Good clinical decision-making under resource-constrained settings
• Familiarity with correctional healthcare workflows and security protocols helpful
