Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate observation and support to patients while maintaining safety and dignity
- Monitor behavior, identify changes in mental status, and promptly report concerns to the care team
- Use de-escalation techniques and follow established safety protocols to manage challenging situations
- Accurately document patient interactions, incidents, and care activities in the medical record
- Collaborate with nurses, mental health clinicians, and custodial staff to support treatment plans
- Assist with therapeutic activities and daily living support as directed by clinical staff
Qualifications
- Active Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) credential required
- Comfortable and professional working in a correctional health environment
- Ability to work the specified schedule: Saturday-Wednesday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- Strong observation, communication, and crisis intervention skills
- Willingness to complete the two-week orientation and any facility-required training
Education
- High school diploma or GED plus completion of an accredited Psychiatric Technician program and LPT licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Foundational knowledge of psychiatric conditions and common treatment approaches
- Effective verbal de-escalation and crisis management skills
- Clear and accurate clinical documentation and reporting
- Teamwork and collaboration with multidisciplinary clinical staff
- Situational awareness and adherence to facility safety protocols
