Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, respectful care to patients in a correctional mental health setting
• Observe and document patient behavior, changes, and responses to interventions
• Assist with treatment activities and therapeutic interventions as directed
• Support safety by using de-escalation techniques and following facility protocols
• Communicate effectively with nurses, mental health staff, and security to ensure coordinated care
• Complete accurate shift handoffs and maintain clear, timely documentation

Qualifications

• Valid California Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) required
• Available to work the assigned schedule: Sun, Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
• Willingness to complete a two-week orientation prior to full assignment
• Comfort working in a correctional facility environment
• Successful background check and any facility-required clearances

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) — California

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong observational skills and attention to detail for behavioral documentation
• De-escalation and therapeutic communication techniques
• Basic clinical skills and familiarity with mental health care routines
• Reliable teamwork and clear, professional communication
• Ability to follow protocols and maintain safety in a secure setting
