Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care and support to individuals with psychiatric needs
- Monitor and document patient behavior, mental status, and responses to treatment
- Assist with implementing care plans and therapeutic activities under direction of clinical staff
- Communicate clearly and professionally with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in patient records and follow facility protocols
- Respond calmly and safely to psychiatric or behavioral emergencies as needed
- Participate in the 2-week orientation and ongoing training to stay current and effective
Qualifications
- California Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) — required
- Available to work Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- Comfortable working in a correctional facility environment (CCI - California Correctional Institution)
- Willingness to complete facility orientation (2 weeks) and any required clearances
Education
- Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) credential — standard educational background for LPT licensure
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail when monitoring patient behavior
- Good written and verbal communication for accurate documentation and teamwork
- Ability to follow treatment plans and facility protocols consistently
- Calm, professional approach to de-escalation and crisis situations
- Team player mindset and willingness to learn during orientation
