Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform patient intake, vital signs, and focused clinical assessments accurately
- Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during procedures to ensure efficiency and safety
- Administer medications and injections within scope and following protocol
- Document care and patient interactions clearly in the electronic health record
- Coordinate referrals, labs, and follow-up appointments to keep care on track
- Maintain infection control and safety standards within a correctional health setting
- Participate in the two-week training to learn site-specific policies and workflows
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience
- Current Medical Assistant certification or credential preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Experience in outpatient or correctional healthcare is a strong plus
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility security requirements
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Medical Assistant certificate or diploma preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with taking vitals and performing routine clinical tasks
- Knowledge of infection control and patient safety practices
- Comfortable documenting in electronic health records and following clinical workflows
- Good interpersonal skills for working with diverse patient populations
- Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks in a busy clinic
