Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake, vital signs, and focused clinical assessments accurately
• Prepare exam rooms and assist providers during procedures to ensure efficiency and safety
• Administer medications and injections within scope and following protocol
• Document care and patient interactions clearly in the electronic health record
• Coordinate referrals, labs, and follow-up appointments to keep care on track
• Maintain infection control and safety standards within a correctional health setting
• Participate in the two-week training to learn site-specific policies and workflows

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent experience
• Current Medical Assistant certification or credential preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Experience in outpatient or correctional healthcare is a strong plus
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility security requirements
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Medical Assistant certificate or diploma preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with taking vitals and performing routine clinical tasks
• Knowledge of infection control and patient safety practices
• Comfortable documenting in electronic health records and following clinical workflows
• Good interpersonal skills for working with diverse patient populations
• Reliable, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks in a busy clinic
