Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patient functional abilities and create individualized occupational therapy plans
- Deliver hands-on treatment and adaptive equipment training to maximize independence
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate holistic patient care
- Document progress and outcomes clearly and on time to support continuity of care
- Educate patients and families on home programs and safety to promote long-term gains
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Active Occupational Therapy license in New Mexico or eligible to obtain one
- Degree in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor's or Master's; OTD a plus)
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain promptly
- Experience in post-acute or rehab settings preferred; new grads with strong clinical skills considered
- Comfortable working a schedule that covers all days of the week and coordinating care across shifts
- Agencies must have a New Mexico caregivers account as noted in the order requirements
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy required; OTD or advanced certifications a plus
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in functional assessments, ADL training, and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Strong documentation and clinical reasoning for measurable patient outcomes
- Good communication and teamwork skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
- Time management and caseload prioritization in a fast-paced rehab environment
- Ability to educate patients and caregivers with clear, compassionate instruction
