Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled step-down nursing care for patients requiring tracheostomy and ventilator management
• Monitor cardiac and respiratory status closely and initiate appropriate interventions
• Perform tracheostomy care, suctioning, ventilator adjustments and troubleshooting per policies
• Deliver advanced life support as needed using BLS/ACLS protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute patient-centered care plans
• Complete accurate documentation, skills checklists, and competency exams promptly
• Maintain strict infection control and safety practices, including timely compliance with immunization and screening requirements

Qualifications

• Current RN (Registered Nurse) designation with license verification prior to start
• Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; PALS and NRP preferred
• Demonstrated experience with tracheostomy care and ventilator management in a step-down or critical care setting
• Available for night shifts and weekend coverage (per diem)
• Must complete full compliance profile within two weeks of start (vaccinations/attestations, negative TB, drug and background screens, fit testing, etc.)

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on competence in tracheostomy care and ventilator support
• Strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills
• Ability to work effectively in step-down/transition care environments
• Proficient documentation and clinical assessment skills
• Comfortable with competency testing and skills validation processes
• Solid infection prevention and immunization knowledge
