Shift Type: Nights, 12-hour shifts (night), typical schedule 36 hours/week, every 3rd weekend, holiday rotation (must work 2 of 3 major holidays); floats to tele/med-surg and may float to sister facility Mercy Gilbert. Specific start/end times are not provided by the facility.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor and care for observation and telemetry patients, including chest pain rule-out and post-heart cath patients
- Recognize and respond to dysrhythmias quickly and accurately
- Administer and monitor non-titration medications such as amiodarone, cardizem, and labetalol safely
- Collaborate closely with PCTs, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and hospitalists to ensure coordinated patient care
- Document patient care and assessments accurately in Cerner
- Float to tele/med-surg as needed to support unit staffing and patient needs
- Participate in simulation lab and unit orientation to maintain high standards of practice
- Serve as charge nurse when assigned, supporting team flow and patient safety
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute/telemetry nursing experience, with clinical practice within the past 6 months
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS certification required
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam through UNA (2 attempts max) within 24-48 hours of offer
- Must pass a pass/fail simulation lab on day 1 of orientation (failure results in removal from assignment)
- Able to float to med-surg and sister facility Mercy Gilbert
- Candidates must not have worked permanently at a CSH facility within the past 12 months
- Candidates must not reside within 50 miles of the facility and must provide a current driver’s license at submission
Education
- Active RN license required
- Nursing diploma, ASN, or BSN (BSN not specifically required by the facility)
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry and cardiac monitoring expertise
- Dysrhythmia recognition and acute care assessment
- Strong critical thinking and rapid clinical decision-making
- Familiarity with Cerner charting system
- Experience with observation unit workflows and chest pain evaluation
- Comfort working with PCTs and collaborating with RT and pharmacy teams
- Ability to manage non-titration cardiac medications safely
