Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating shifts (various schedules between 6:00 AM - 11:30 PM); primary night block: Friday - Monday, 8:00 PM - 6:30 AM (Night). 10-hour shifts typical; schedule set by supervisor; weekend and holiday call required on rotation.
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $45 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Process, decontaminate and sterilize surgical instruments following SPD workflows and infection control best practices
- Support Operating Room cases across diverse specialties including ortho, robotic, plastics, ENT, urology and more
- Prepare instrument sets and trays accurately and efficiently to keep surgical schedules on time
- Perform instrument inspections, assembly and tracking to maintain high quality and safety standards
- Document sterilization and instrument handling in the charting system (EPIC) as required
- Provide reliable call coverage and be adaptable to shift changes and volume demands
- Collaborate with OR staff and clinical teams as a dependable, team-oriented Sterile Tech
Qualifications
- BLS (AHA) required
- CRCST OR CSPDT required (either one — duos not accepted)
- Driver's license required at submittal (used to confirm radius eligibility)
- Minimum: 2 years of relevant experience (posting lists 2 years; preference for 1+ year travel experience and 1+ year permanent SPD experience)
- Experience in high-volume orthopedic environments preferred
- Familiarity with EPIC charting is a plus
- Willingness to take call, work weekends/holidays on rotation, and adapt shift patterns
- Must comply with facility policies (e.g., artificial nails prohibited in patient care areas)
- Candidates must not be currently full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit-associated facility (including CHI or Dignity) and must meet the 50-mile radius rule
Knowledge & Skills
- Sterile Processing and instrument sterilization techniques
- Operating Room (OR) support and case preparation
- Instrument processing, inspection and tray assembly
- Strong attention to detail and quality assurance mindset
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume surgical setting
- Teamwork, strong interpersonal skills, and clear communication
- Flexible problem-solving and willingness to adjust shifts as needed
- Basic EPIC charting familiarity
