Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage telemetry and continuous EEG for adult and geriatric patients
• Safely titrate drips (including Cardizem, beta blockers, seizure meds) per orders
• Collaborate with the charge nurse and interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Provide acute care for cardiac, nephrology, stroke, and diabetes patients
• Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Float to ICU, medical floors, or rehab as needed to support patient needs
• Teach and support patients and families with clear, compassionate communication
• Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving in this fast-paced unit

Qualifications

• Active RN license appropriate for Nebraska submission
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience (telemetry/stepdown experience preferred)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS required
• Familiarity with EPIC charting required
• Ability to titrate drips and manage continuous EEG monitoring
• Driver's license required at time of submittal
• Must not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI or Dignity)
• Pass orientation competency exam (open book) with a 90% score as part of onboarding

Education

• Active RN license required (BSN not required)
• ADN, diploma, or BSN acceptable; BSN is not a hiring requirement for this role

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and continuous EEG monitoring expertise
• Drip titration and cardiac medication management
• Stroke care including NIHSS proficiency
• Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients and team members
• Experience with EPIC electronic charting
• Comfort working in a fast-paced stepdown/PCU environment
• Ability to assist and supervise patient care techs and support staff
