Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality bedside nursing care across MedSurg Tele and PCU units
• Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry strips; act promptly on dysrhythmias
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips safely (Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Insulin)
• Manage post-procedural cardiac and CABG patients in stepdown and PCU settings
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including monitor techs, physicians, and charge nurses
• Perform thorough documentation using Cerner to ensure continuity of care
• Support patient throughput by caring for inpatients holding in the ED when needed
• Serve as a reliable float-pool resource across both campuses, adapting quickly to unit needs

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing
• BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years total RN experience, with at least 1 year in a PCU/stepdown or MedSurg Tele setting
• Comfortable and experienced titrating drips and managing post-cardiac procedure patients
• Ability to interpret telemetry and pass a dysrhythmia exam (must score 80% within two attempts prior to contract)
• Experience with Cerner or similar electronic charting systems
• Willingness to float across units and be flexible with assignments and campus travel (~20-25 minute drive between campuses)
• Must meet CommonSpirit radius/employment rule: candidates may not have been FT/PT/PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI/Dignity) within the past year

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• Drip titration and management of vasoactive medications
• Post-cardiac cath and CABG stepdown care
• Experience with CPAP/BiPAP and heated high-flow support in stepdown/PCU settings
• Strong MedSurg assessment skills and geriatric care knowledge
• Comfort working with monitor techs and taking responsibility for strip interpretation
• Ability to work within nurse:patient ratios (PCU ~1:4, MedSurg Tele ~1:5-6)
• Effective communication, teamwork, and adaptability for float-pool assignments
