Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM (Evening, 8-hour shifts); schedule set by supervisor, may include 6-7 weeknight shifts per month, approximately 1 weekend every 4-5 weeks, and occasional holiday call (about 1 per year)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $45 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, inspect and assemble surgical instrument sets accurately and efficiently
- Sterilize instruments and manage sterilization logs to meet infection control standards
- Prepare and stage instruments for high-volume outpatient procedures including orthopedics, general surgery and specialty cases
- Perform quality control checks and maintain documentation in EPIC to ensure traceability
- Collaborate closely with OR staff and surgical teams to support on-time case starts
- Maintain inventory, restock supplies and troubleshoot instrument issues to keep the department running smoothly
- Participate in call rotation and be available for short-notice shift changes when volumes require it
- Follow facility policies including strict infection control and fingernail/artificial nail rules
Qualifications
- BLS (AHA) required
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) OR CSPDT required; CRCST via HSPA noted
- Valid driver’s license required at submittal to confirm distance eligibility
- Minimum 2 years of related experience preferred, with at least 1 year of SPD experience on the permanent side preferred
- At least 1 year of prior travel experience preferred
- Experience with high-volume orthopedics and outpatient case mixes is a strong plus
- Must not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI or Dignity) per radius rule
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPDT) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing workflows, decontamination and sterilization standards
- Familiarity with OR instrumentation and specialty sets used in ortho, robotics, plastics and ENT
- Proficient with EPIC charting and documentation
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment
- Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable taking call and adjusting shifts to meet changing volumes
