Candidate Pay Rate: $81 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare, grossly describe, and dissect surgical pathology specimens with precision and care
- Perform postmortem examinations under the medical direction of pathologists
- Collect, label, and track specimens to ensure specimen integrity and accurate patient identification
- Document findings and complete required paperwork and records in HIS/LIS systems
- Exercise independent judgment to organize and prioritize workflow in a busy lab environment
- Collaborate with pathologists, technologists, and clinical teams to support timely diagnostic services
- Maintain and operate laboratory instrumentation appropriate to the scope of the position
- Adhere to safety, quality, and infection control procedures to protect patients and staff
Qualifications
- PA ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) certification required; equivalent certification not accepted
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Pathology Assistant required
- Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Current, verifiable work history and a supervisory signed reference from within the past two years
- Completed Pathology Assistant skills checklist current to within 1 year
- Must provide permanent address at profile upload and must not reside within 50 miles of the facility
- Must have reliable personal vehicle for local travel to/from facility
- Ability to work additional hours or shifts in emergency situations when needed
Education
- Bachelor's degree required
- Master's degree preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong gross description and gross dissection skills
- Experience performing postmortem examinations
- Familiarity with HIS and LIS systems for specimen tracking and documentation
- Competence with assorted laboratory instrumentation and specimen handling techniques
- Excellent attention to detail and specimen labeling accuracy
- Ability to work accurately under stress and remain alert for extended periods
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Independent judgement, organization, and initiative to prioritize workload
