Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered bedside nursing care for Med/Surg and post-op patients
• Perform and manage IV therapy including IV insertion and pump management
• Assess patients regularly, monitor telemetry and vital signs, and intervene as needed
• Deliver wound care and maintain surgical drains with attention to safety and infection prevention
• Care for nasogastric tubes and chest tubes as part of post-op and acute nursing care
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Meditech
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and engage patients and families in care planning
• Participate in bedside shift report and contribute to a positive patient experience

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience
• Demonstrated IV insertion and IV therapy skills
• Experience with wound care, surgical drain maintenance, nasogastric and chest tube care
• Familiarity with Meditech or similar electronic documentation systems
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and commit to scheduled weekend rotation

• Med/Surg nursing best practices and post-operative care
• IV therapy and infusion pump management
• Wound assessment and dressing techniques
• Patient assessment, critical thinking and prioritization
• Telemetry monitoring and basic cardiac rhythm recognition
• Meditech documentation and electronic charting
• Strong communication, teamwork and patient-family engagement skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced acute care environment
