Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using electronic fetal monitoring and act promptly on changes
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives and the care team to support safe deliveries and postpartum recovery
• Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, newborn care and postpartum health
• Document assessments, interventions and patient education clearly and timely in the EMR
• Respond to emergent situations with professional composure and appropriate clinical interventions
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active RN license in New York (compact/state requirements must be met)
• Prior maternity/OB nursing experience preferred
• Current BLS required; NRP and/or ACLS preferred or obtainable
• Comfortable with fetal monitoring, labor support and postpartum care
• Ability to work nights and provide weekend coverage as scheduled
• Strong communication skills and a teamwork mindset

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in maternal and newborn assessment and triage
• Proficient with electronic medical records and accurate charting
• Knowledgeable in fetal monitoring interpretation and documentation
• Able to prioritize care in a fast-paced labor and delivery environment
• Patient education and family-centered care expertise
