Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat pediatric patients using evidence-based speech-language pathology approaches
- Perform standardized and criterion-referenced assessments such as CELF, PLS-4 and Rossetti Infant-Toddler Language Scale
- Document thoroughly and accurately in EPIC for assessments, plans of care, concurrent therapy, reassessments and discharges
- Design and implement individualized plans of care, including alternative and augmentative communication strategies and device-based interventions
- Provide family-centered education and coaching to support carryover of skills at home and school
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including physical therapy and interpretation services to optimize patient outcomes
- Manage a pediatric outpatient caseload (expected visits/day: 8) with professional autonomy and accountability
- Ensure patient safety by recognizing and reporting signs and symptoms of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse
Qualifications
- CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology)
- State licensure to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist in Ohio
- BLS certification
- Experience in pediatric outpatient settings and comfort working with children with autism and their families
- EPIC documentation experience (REQUIRED)
- Travel assignment experience (REQUIRED) and ability to work independently with limited support
- Experience with Medicaid billing and SLP evaluation coding, plans of care, and concurrent therapy documentation
- Experience with alternative communication devices and communication boards
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in pediatric speech-language evaluation and treatment (expressive/receptive language, fluency, articulation)
- Knowledge of neurodevelopmental conditions including autism, ADHD, developmental delay and prematurity-related complications
- Competence with assessment tools: CELF, PLS-4, Rossetti and non-evaluative screening tools
- Familiar with dysphagia screening/bedside swallow evaluation and compensatory strategies (preferred)
- Ability to recommend and implement augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) solutions
- Strong patient/family education and communication skills
- Understanding of documentation workflows, Medicaid billing requirements and SLP evaluation coding
- Ability to identify patient safety concerns and respond appropriately
