Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess communication and swallowing function using evidence-based evaluation techniques
• Develop individualized treatment plans that target meaningful functional gains
• Implement therapy sessions across a range of diagnoses, adjusting approaches to each patient’s needs
• Collaborate with physical therapy, occupational therapy, nursing, and case management to coordinate care
• Document progress thoroughly and communicate updates to families and the care team
• Provide education and training to caregivers and staff to support carryover and safety
• Contribute to discharge planning and follow-up recommendations to maximize outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Speech-Language Pathologist license in New Mexico or eligibility to obtain one (agencies must have NM caregivers account)
• Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) preferred
• Demonstrated experience with clinical assessments and treatment for dysphagia and neurogenic communication disorders
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain promptly)
• Strong interpersonal and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced rehabilitation setting

Education

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required) or related advanced degree

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in evaluation and treatment of speech, language, cognition, and swallowing disorders
• Familiarity with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies
• Proficient with clinical documentation and electronic health record systems
• Able to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams and communicate clearly with patients and families
• Good clinical reasoning, time management, and patient-centered care approach
