Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess communication and swallowing needs using evidence-based evaluation tools
- Develop individualized treatment plans to improve patient outcomes
- Provide skilled therapy interventions and adjust care based on progress
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate holistic care
- Document evaluations, plans, and progress accurately and timely in the medical record
- Educate patients, families, and staff on strategies to support communication and safety
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
- State SLP license or ability to obtain one (eligibility acceptable; licensing support available)
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred or demonstrated clinical competency
- Experience working with adult rehabilitation populations preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills
- Current CPR/BLS certification as required by facility
- Clear background check and any required health screenings
Education
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in dysphagia assessment and management
- Experience with cognitive-communication and voice disorders
- Proficiency with standardized assessment tools and functional goal setting
- Comfortable documenting in electronic health records and maintaining compliance
- Ability to collaborate effectively with PT, OT, nursing, and medical staff
- Strong communication, time management, and caseload prioritization skills
